In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, our tour guide and driver will pick you up and transfer to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor. The tour starts from the South gate of Angkor Thom, the last capital city of the Khmer Empire, built by the great Khmer king Jayavaraman VII at the end of the 12th century. It covers an area of 9 km2 surrounded by walls and moats. Inside the city there are several temples: the Bayon, the Baphoun, the Royal Palace, the Terrace of the Elephant and Terrace of the Leper King. Later continue to the Ta Prohm temple, lost in the jungle and covered by tropical trees. The temple was featured in the movie “Tomb Raider”, and it makes visitors feel like Henri Mahout, the first adventurer to rediscover Angkor temples by accident in 1860.
Transfer to a restaurant for lunch (not included) and after lunch visit the largest temple in the world and one of the wonders of the world: Angkor Wat. Watch the sunset in Angkor, and then return to the hotel.

In the afternoon visit Banteay Srey, a true jewel of Khmer art, built in pink sandstone; on the way back stop to visit a village with traditional Khmer houses and observe the sugar cane production. Return to the hotel and free time for dinner.

After lunch visit the largest lake in Southeast Asia, Tonle Sap, which has been listed by UNESCO as a Natural Biosphere in 1997. Take a cruise to visit the floating villages and experience the daily life of the Khmer people living in floating houses and bamboo rafts on the lake: see the floating school, the floating market, a floating church and the freshwater mangrove eco-system that surrounds the lake. Battambang is the second largest city in Cambodia, known as the Capital of the West; it still retains a provincial attitude and it’s characterised by the colonial architecture and the laid-back atmosphere of a traditional rural community. Admire the wooden houses (some of them more than 100-year old) that pass from one generation to the next. Then, ride the Bamboo Train: a small bamboo-made platform on wheels that travels on wobbly rails left from an abandoned rail-road, propelled by a small but powerful motor. Lunch break (not included). Visit the 12th century temples of Phnom Banan and Phnom Sampov and the famous natural bat cave in Phnom Sampov: every day at evening thousands of bats fly out of the cave to come back early in the morning. You will be amazed by the show of the long line of flying bats. Overnight in Battambang.
