From the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya to the serene temples of Chiang Mai, this journey takes you through significant landmarks, vibrant markets, and picturesque landscapes. Departure from the hotel in Bangkok and visit the Ayutthaya Historical Park, an impressive testimony to the rich history and past grandeur of Thailand, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. The ruins include 425 archaeological sites within and outside the city walls with its ancient temples, palaces, monasteries, and Buddhist statues, including Wat Mahathat, known for the Buddha head trapped among tree roots; Wat Phra Si Sanphet, which housed the royal palace and three impressive chedis; Wat Chai Watthanaram, a majestic religious complex on the banks of the Chao Phraya River; and Wat Mongkhon Bophit, with its imposing bronze Buddha statue approximately 12 meters high and 9 meters wide, representing the Buddha in a seated position with the right hand touching the ground as a witness to his enlightenment. Free time to visit the numerous craft stalls and, following, departure to Chai Nat province for a lunch stop in a delightful local restaurant within a tropical garden. Then, depart for Sukhothai, the first capital of Siam, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop at the local Kluay Khai market, named after a popular variety of banana in Thailand, with the opportunity to taste a variety of enticing raw and cooked snacks, including banana chips, banana sprouts, and Kluai Chap, a sweet fried banana dessert that is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. Arrival at the wonderful archaeological site and a bicycle tour of its most significant places: the historical park, the heart of the ancient city bordered by three rows of perimeter walls, and the various temples, including the colossal Wat Mahathat, Wat Sa Sri, Wat Sri Sawai, and the famous quadrangle of the Mondop. Arrival at the hotel, dinner at leisure, and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will leave for Si Satchanalai to visit the characteristic rural village Ban Na Ton Chan, surrounded by Chan trees and famous for the process of dyeing fabric fermented in mud and for ancient weaving techniques. A sightseeing tour of the village on board a local truck (vehicle used for agricultural purposes) with a stop on a bamboo bridge across a huge rice field. Depart for Phrae, one of the oldest cities in Thailand, founded in the same period as Sukhothai and Chiang Mai, and part of the glorious Lanna empire. Its ancient name was Wiang Kosai, meaning silk cloth, and the city is also nicknamed the “Best-Kept Secret of Northern Thailand“, with immense historical, cultural, and natural wealth. Before arriving in the city, a brief photo stop at the magnificent Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri and, after lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Baan Thung Hong district, famous for the production of Mo-Hom, blue-dyed cotton garments worn by villagers throughout northern Thailand. Continue towards Phayao province and stop at the first of the “unusual” temples in Chiang Rai province: Wat Huay Sai Kao, a functioning religious site created with the general concept of “Buddhism can be fun” and which wouldn’t be out of place in Disneyland. Arrival in Chiang Rai and before going to the hotel, visit Wat Rong Seua Ten, better known as the “Blue Temple” or “Dancing Tiger Temple“, whose walls, roof, and surrounding statues are all covered in this splendid shade of sapphire blue, symbolically associated with purity, wisdom, and the lack of materialism that Buddhists aspire to. Check-in at the hotel, dinner at leisure, and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the “Golden Triangle” the famous place where Thailand meets Laos and Myanmar on the legendary Mekong River, the longest in Southeast Asia at 4,350 Km. Stop at the panoramic viewpoint of the rivers’ meeting point, known as Phrathat Doi Pu Khao, and visit the Opium Museum, which offers a series of testimonies and objects related to the cultivation, trade, and consumption of this substance. Return to Chiang Rai and stop at Wat Rong Khun, better known as the “White Temple“, one of the most famous temples in Thailand. The white color indicates the purity of the Buddha, while the glass symbolizes the wisdom and Buddhist teachings of the Dhamma. After lunch at a local restaurant, depart for Chiang Mai, “The Rose of the North”, considered the northern capital of Thailand, surrounded by spectacular mountains, with a beautiful city center and its unique architecture that can be admired while strolling through the streets. Visit Wat Pha Lat, the “jungle temple”, a complex of temples on the slopes of Doi Suthep, the mountain that dominates Chiang Mai. This picturesque temple immersed in the jungle is composed of several buildings scattered in the forest along a quiet stream and built in perfect harmony with nature so that it is difficult to tell where the buildings end and the forest begins. Last visit to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, the most sacred Theravada temple in the city, in a panoramic position on top of the eponymous mountain with its 1,056 meters of height. Built at the beginning of the 19th Buddhist century, Doi Suthep‘s beauty is characterized by seven-headed serpent statues flanking the stairs where there is a golden pagoda in Chiang Saen style and all its exquisite Lanna architecture. Arrival at the hotel, dinner at leisure, and overnight stay.

Breakfast (packed or at the hotel) and departure (06:30/07:00) for a half-day excursion to the jungle elephant sanctuary, which offers visitors a pleasant opportunity to spend time with elephants in their natural home. The main objective of the sanctuary is to provide an environment that respects the physical and psychological well-being of elephants, allowing them to roam freely so they can interact with each other and engage in natural behaviors such as swimming in rivers and scratching against trees. Visitors to the sanctuary will have the opportunity to interact with these wonderful creatures, as well as gain insight into their history and behaviors, all accompanied by breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle and mountains. After feeding the elephants with bananas and sugarcane and bathing with these wonderful creatures, depart for the famous Bai Orchid and Butterfly Farm, an unmissable stop in Chiang Mai to experience the beauty of nature with butterflies fluttering over orchids. The exotic setting, immersed in nature, offers visitors a glimpse into the life cycle of these insects and the plants they love. After lunch at the farm, return to the city and depart for the San Kamphaeng district, famous for the village industries of silk and cotton, and the umbrellas made of delicate Thai paper and decorated by hand. Return to the hotel on your own and overnight stay.
