Half Day
General Description

This half-day tour covers two must-visit attractions in Bangkok: the glittering Royal Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Start with the Royal Palace, a complex of buildings, gardens and courtyards in the heart of Bangkok where the Kings and Queens of Thailand lived until 1925. Within the walls of the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is one of the most popular temples to visit: the green-stone statue of Buddha meditating in the lotus position is little, yet very precious.

Highlights

A visit to the Royal Grand Palace is a must-do for new-comers in Bangkok, and for everybody wishing to know more about the culture and history of Thailand: the elegant and glittering former residence of the past Kings of Thailand is a large complex of buildings, temples and pagodas. Several buildings are still used for official events nowadays.

The Emerald Buddha was discovered by chance inside a stupa in Chiang Rai in the XV century, covered with plaster and dust. When the outside plaster broke by accident, it was discovered to be a precious Buddha statue carved from a block of green jade.
