This guided tour of Bangkok’s most iconic sights offers an immersive glimpse into the city’s rich history and culture. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll explore the Grand Palace, the sacred Wat Phra Kaew, the striking Wat Arun, and the renowned Wat Pho, home of the colossal Reclining Buddha. Travel between sites by a mix of public transportation, including sky-train, metro, ferries, and traditional tuk-tuks, for a true local experience.
This is a seat-in-coach half-day tour departing every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with a minimum of 2 passengers
Appointment at the hotel reception and accompanied by a local Italian-speaking guide, visit the most important monuments as a resident of Bangkok would, using public transportation such as the BTS (elevated metro train), the MRT (underground metro train), local ferries, and sometimes the Tuk Tuk (3-wheeled motorized rickshaws named after the sound their engines make as they sputter through the city’s streets).
Arrive on foot at the Grand Palace, the architectural symbol of the Thai Royal Family built in 1782, the center of political and administrative power for over two centuries. The complex extends over a vast area and is surrounded by impressive walls; inside, you can explore a series of magnificently decorated buildings, spacious courtyards, lush gardens and sacred temples, including the Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha): this temple is considered the most sacred in Thailand and houses the famous Emerald Buddha statue, a carved emerald sculpture dating back to the 14th century.
Continue on foot (about 10 minutes) to reach the Thatien Pier and board a local ferry to visit the beautiful Wat Arun, known as the Temple of the Dawn, which rises to a height of 86 meters and with its distinctive three-tiered terrace profile. The most distinctive feature is its central tower (Prang) with stepped decoration in ceramic mosaics and shells; the temple is dedicated to the Hindu god of dawn, Aruna, and its architecture blends Thai and Khmer elements, creating a unique and evocative atmosphere.
Return to the pier and visit Wat Pho, also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, one of the oldest and most important temples in Bangkok and famous for being one of the most renowned centers for the study and practice of traditional Thai medicine, known as “Thai massage”. Its architecture reflects the traditional Thai style, with elegant chedis (stupas), prangs (stepped towers) and ornate courtyards. This impressive gilded statue measures over 46 meters in length and 15 meters in height, and is one of the largest representations of the reclining Buddha in the world. The statue is decorated with mother-of-pearl on the soles of the feet, depicting 108 symbols of prosperity, and in addition to the reclining Buddha statue, Wat Pho houses numerous other notable attractions, including 4 large chedis, decorated with colored ceramics and scenes from Buddhist mythology, a large collection of Buddha statues, many of which date back to the Ayutthaya period.
At the end of the visits, return to the various hotels by local means of transport.
