Day 1

Bangkok - Bang Pa In - Ayutthaya

07.30 am Meet your guide at hotel (please wait at the lobby)
09:00 am Visit Bang Pa In, the Summer Palace of the Kings of Thailand, dating back to the Seventeenth century. The Palace was renovated and made even more splendid by King Mongkut (Rama IV) in the Nineteenth century. Looking European in design, the building has been used by the former King, Rama IX, and Queen Sirikit as summer residence and for state receptions and banquets until recently.
11:30 am Visit Ayutthaya Historical Park. Ayutthaya was the second capital of the Siam Kingdom following Sukhothai. From the 14th to the 18th century it was one of the largest and most beautiful cities in the world and a centre of trade. In 1767 Ayutthaya was abandoned after being invaded and destroyed by the Burmese army, never to be rebuilt. The city is listed as one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites as it portrays one of the greatest kingdoms in South Asian history. You will visit some of the most important temples, including Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Phra Mahathat, by walk or by bicycle.

A former Hindu shrine built in the 13th century in classic Khmer architecture, the complex includes three Prangs (towers) connected by corridors.

During the reign of King Narai, the Hindu shrine was transformed into a Buddhist temple and a brick hall was built to the east to house a large Thong-style Buddha. Buddha images were later added to the two towers.
