General Description

The first stop of the tour is the famous Train Market, best known as Maeklong Railway Market”, where vendors set their shops and food stalls only inches from the railroad. For this reason the market has become very popular with travellers and photographers: you will have a chance to see the train passing by the shops and take impressive photos.

Damnoen Saduak is the most popular floating market in Thailand. Join this tour for a chance to explore it and take beautiful photos. After the pick up in hotel, the transfer to the boat pier takes about 2 hours. At the pier you will board a long tail boat and start a journey along the canals to the market. In Damnoen Saduak vendors sell anything from food and drinks to souvenirs. Have fun exploring the different goods, taking photos, trying some street food and ice cream before starting the journey back to Bangkok.

Itinerary

Half Day

Maekhlong Railway Market & Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Meet and greet your guide at the hotel lobby. The first stop of the day is the colourful Maeklong Railway Market, where we watch as the train slowly passes through this market, as vendors move their goods just long enough to allow the train to pass and then resume their activities. Continuation to Damnern Saduak, home to the famous floating market. Once there, we will begin our visit by boarding motorboat (longtail) which will allow us to observe closely the daily life of the people of the river, who live mainly from agriculture, growing mangoes, watermelon and coconuts. (Local delicacy “coconut sugar”). After the boat tour you will have about an hour of free time to take pictures and do some shopping. Return to Bangkok.

Highlights

Damnoen Saduak floating market has been known in Thailand and abroad for a long time, and even figured in a James Bond movie dated from 1974. It’s often noisy and crowded with tourists and sellers, but it offers the chance to take beautiful photos and taste delicious street food. If you find anything you like to eat, signal the vendor who will prepare the food directly on the boat and hand it to you, freshly cooked.
