Bali is a land of celebrations, most of which happen at Besakih temple, considered the biggest and holiest shrine of the island. During this full day tour you might have the chance to witness one of the 70 celebrations that take place at the temple throughout the year. But even if you don’t see a celebration, you will be fascinated by the stunning temple and its spectacular views on the countryside.
Excursion to the breathtaking Mount Gunung Agung area. On the route, we’ll stop in Penglipuran, a typical Balinese village 700 meters above sea level. It is primarily renowned for preserving traditional culture and village structure. Then we’ll head to Besakih, Bali’s most important and largest temple. The temple was established in the 11th century at 1000 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Agung, Bali’s sacred volcano. Lunch will be served at a nearby restaurant with a stunning view of the Bukit Jambul highlands. After lunch, we will visit the amazing painted ceilings of the old Klungkung’s palace of justice Kerta Gosa, where we may view the historic frescoes depicting old methods of punishment. Back in the late afternoon to the hotel.

Pura Besakih is known as “the mother temple” of all temples in Bali, and there is no doubt it’s going to be the highlight of your day. The Balinese countryside and the peak of Mount Agung, which in the early morning and afternoon is often surrounded by a sea of clouds, are also part of the wonderful experience that awaits you.
The Besakih temple complex is large and steep, you will have to climb steps most of the time, so drink plenty of water and take your time to rest when needed.
Since it’s a religious complex, visitors must wear sarongs or long pants and skirts to cover their legs. Consult with your guide about the etiquette before approaching the temple.
